competition law
In short and in plain language
Competition law says how firms may run ads.
It also covers how they deal with each other in the market. It is mainly found in a German law against unfair competition.
For example, it bans ads that mislead. Bought reviews are banned too, and so are some ways to compare.
Rivals or trade groups can send a formal warning if a firm breaks these rules.
Definition
Competition law governs how businesses may advertise and deal with each other, mainly through the German Act against Unfair Competition. It prohibits, for example, misleading advertising, bought reviews and inadmissible comparisons. Competitors or associations can issue warning letters for infringements.
