Laws, courts and authorities
StGB
Abbreviation for Strafgesetzbuch
In short and in plain language
The StGB is the German law on crimes and penalties.
It protects some job titles, such as tax advisor.
Anyone who uses such a title without the right can be punished.
So a bookkeeper must not use it as a title on the website.
Definition
The StGB is the German Criminal Code, which defines criminal offences and their penalties. § 132a StGB protects certain professional titles, including Steuerberater (tax advisor): anyone who uses such a title without authorization faces up to one year in prison or a fine. A bookkeeper's website therefore must not use the word as the bookkeeper's own professional title.
